Meghan Markle, already a fashion icon before joining the Royal Family, continues to leave us speechless with her sophisticated and daring fashion choices. However, her recent trip to Colombia with Prince Harry sparked controversy among royal watchers.
On August 15, 2024, Markle and Harry began their Colombian visit, invited by Vice President Francia Márquez to promote their Archewell Foundation and advocate for female empowerment. Yet, it was Meghan’s choice of attire that grabbed headlines.
At one event, Meghan stunned in a navy blue Veronica Beard waistcoat set with a halter neckline and cigarette trousers, paired with simple studs and a Cartier Love bangle. While classy, the outfit drew sharp criticism. One user remarked, “Again showing the massive shoulders, next it will be the billboard back. Same old thing.”
Critics also accused Meghan of copying Princess Diana’s style, with one saying, “Meghan Markle’s desperate attempt to cosplay Princess Diana is a sad parody.”
Despite the backlash, Meghan has never claimed to be emulating Diana. As Prince Harry mentioned, “Oh they’d be thick as thieves, without question… probably been best friends — best friends with Meghan.”
